Murray Topham

Sydney

Murray’s work is hand-thrown in porcelain using inlay and scaffito techniques to create a tactile surface.  Scaffito is the technique of incising (scratching) down through a layer of applied slip to the clay body below, in which the clay and slip are of contrasting colours.

This illusory effect on the piece leaves the viewer to see many different aspects to Murray’s work - exactly the reaction he hopes to create.
